I host a few small sites on Blue Host, but for some reason only the sites with Generate Press themes are down. Can any one offer support?

Hi Joseph,
Is it a new site installation? This shouldn’t be a theme-related issue. The theme has no control over whether a website is up or down. It’s likely Server related. Can you reach out to Bluehost and check why the issue is occurring?

I’m reaching out to blue host now. It is a 2 year old site so I figured it is an issue with them.

The sites are backup but support said it was malware from plugins, which is odd considering I have less than 10 plugins and they are very popular. Does this sound right?

It’s possible.
Were all plugins in your site added through WordPress.org, the plugin dashboard, or a trusted site?
Usually, malware exists in plugins, even popular ones, if it’s downloaded from a shady site.
It could also be added through SVGs or other codes or files. So, with that said, it’s always best to be careful with what you add to your site.
There are Security plugins that could help with this. One popular plugin is Wordfence.
Another popular cause is if your host plan is shared hosting. If one website in your shared hosting gets malware or something else, it could also affect your site. This is one downside to shared hosting.

Yes all fromt he wordpress.org plugin dashboard. I haven’t added a new plugin or really assets in months. I only have wordpress set to autoupdate.
Blue Hosts’ rep said there is no way another site could infect my site, but I feel like they really just want me to buy sitelock.

I see. That’s very odd indeed. See here for more information on Malware: https://wordpress.com/support/malware-and-site-security/#:~:text=Table%20of%20Contents%20%E2%86%91-,What%20is%20malware%20and%20where%20does%20it%20come%20from%3F,-Malware%20(short%20for
If you haven’t added anything malicious, another thing I can think of is someone being able to access your site or server and place it manually.
Glad it’s fixed now though! It may be good to add a Malware/Virus scanning plugin to ensure everything is safe.
