    Hi there,
I can’t help but believe this is much easier than I’m making it. EDIT: I want to make my page look like the dark band on this very GP page! Text in the centre container, dark background extending the full width of the page!

My problem: see the dark blue band in the centre of this page: https://patrickquilts.com/links/

I want to have bands of background colours that go full width, but a container (or grid) sitting in the centre 1140px as if it were a contained width.

I have read this and I’m just not getting what I need to change: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/content-container/

Currently, I’ve switched off any right/left columns on the page, set it to full width.

Apologies if I’m missing something super obvious,
    Patrick

    Hi there,

add a GenerateBlocks Container Block to the page.
By default it will be Full Width ( background ) with Contained width contents.
In its spacing give it some Padding eg. 40px Desktop, 30px Tablet / Mobile
    And set its Background color.

Then inside the Container, add your Grid Block or any other content you want 🙂

Ugh – I was doing GRID first and then adding containers within it. Schoolboy error.
    Thanks, David.

    No worries.

And note, every column in a Grid Block is a Container block, so theres no requirement to add more container blocks inside them unless you need too 🙂
