These new border controls do not show up when using the GeneratePress theme.
If i switch to Astra theme, the image block does have the new border controls in the block panel.
Also blocks theme show the new controls for the block image.

I have just updated to latest GP and WP 6.1.1, but the new images controls are not available in block settings for the core image block.

    Hi there,

Those options require a theme.json, we are currently looking into how best to support it.
In the meantime if you need additional styling options for images then i would recommend looking at the GenerateBlocks Image block.

I do use GenerateBlocks, GB Pro and GP premium.
My question actually stems from my work with WordPress helpdesk meetups.
I organize the Santa Cruz, CA and San Jose CA WordPress meetups and am connected with a dozen or more other WP organizers.

The question popped up in one of my peer organizers meetup (Cambridge WP).

Trying to educate myself as to why Astra has the new features but GP, OceanWP and others don’t and when GP might support the new features. From your answer, I hear it comes down to theme.json support and you’re still “looking” at how to implement that support.

Is there a way to keep in touch with your theme.json support efforts?

And thanks for your quick response.

    Hi there,

I wrote down some thoughts on theme.json here: https://github.com/tomusborne/generatepress/issues/389

Basically, it’s not something I want to rush. It was built with “block themes” in mind and opting into some of this stuff could have unforeseen consequences in the future. I would prefer to wait for it to become solid without worrying about breaking existing sites.

    Hope this helps! 🙂
