Please note: the WP Show Posts plugin is no longer being supported, and we cannot offer ongoing support for it or this method of using static pages for categories
I have sub categories too so how would this work with them?

I would recommend using block element – loop template with the query loop block of GenerateBlocks plugin.
In this case, you can add your own loop to the element, select the category archive as location, it will replace the default loop of the location.
