Trish
I’ve been trying for HOURS now to find a plugin that works, given that I can no longer add “normal” tables to WordPress… grrrrrrr! without scrolling sideways… REALLY?!
The site I’m wanting to publish a 5 column 8 row table on is using Classic Editor.
Anyway, I’ve tried several different plugins and TablePress comes CLOSE but no cigars. The tables refuse to be responsive/
Searching for why, I started thinking maybe it’s GeneratePress, and VOILA! There have been SEVERAL cries for help from GP users over the years, but NONE of the suggested fixes work for me.
5 hours trying to get a table to be responsive has me worn out. It’s 1:36 AM here… so am BEGGING a genius to help me figure this out… if possible. The post I’m working on is in scheduled mode as it is due live on the 16th.
Pretty pleeeease… I need you help?
Thank you in advance,

StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
i don’t have much experience with TablePress, but it looks like they sell separate Extensions to handle the tables responsive behaviour:
https://tablepress.org/extensions/responsive-tables/
Without extensions we could look at some Custom CSS to make it fit – but what is your expectation for Mobile ? As the go to here is generally a scrolling table…. let me know.

Hi David,
I added the developer’s Responsive Tables Extension 1.8 last night, and it is still installed but made no difference.
Just noticed now that the developer has this plugin listed on GitHub, though he has no intention of further maintenance of it. I sent Tobias Bäthge a Tweet last night requesting his help as I couldn’t even leave him a donation. Figured I may have to pay to learn how to fix this… but his payment setup is not functioning properly.
I moved my sites to GeneratePress hoping to not be so frustrated… and it has worked wonders… until I wanted to create a simple table. 🙁
Reading that other themes have included scripts to make their customer’s tables fully responsive but GeneratePress chose not to do that was why I was praying that you would know of a script that would work with TablePress as that was the most complained about table plugin that should work with GeneratePress Premium.
Disappointed,

StaffCustomer SupportI find it odd that TablePress isn’t even fixing the width (
table-layout: fixed;) to stop it breaking out of the container.
I also tried enabling the Horizontal Scroll under that tables Javascript options and that didn’t work.I wonder if the CSS / JS it should generate isn’t loading because we’re previewing the post ?
Do you have a dev site where you could test it on a published page ?

Thank YOU David, you’ve made me feel better that it is NOT ME… LOL!
I’ve FINALLY heard from the developer and I promise to keep you posted with what he can figure out.
In the meantime, I’ve rescheduled the post to go LIVE on the 16th of December, instead of November. This crisis is averted for the time being.
The TablePress plugin developer may ask me to move it to a temp site too. Good thinking David.
If he cannot fix this… WOW!
