I’ve read hard coding your site’s header and footer will improve loading speeds.
My question is: by how much?
Would it make a minor or significant difference?
Any downsides to doing so?

I’ve read hard coding your site’s header and footer will improve loading speeds.
I don’t believe this is true 100% of the time – it depends on what you are comparing to.
GP is optimized by default so I doubt you will see much of a difference if any.
