Hi there,
i’m building my header with elements this way: new block —> site header. About the menu: (I add it with block “navigation”) how can I enlarge the space for the individual menu items? Through “Customize > Layout > Primary Navigation —> Menu item width” it just doesn’t work.
Also, would you suggest some other way to add the menu? I thought about building it with buttons with their specific links but I don’t know if that’s right

Hi Leo,
i’m learning on localwp so i can’t share unfortunately, but here’s a screen: https://imgur.com/a/qhCdxAf
In the first part I simply tried to build the menu with buttons. Is it wrong? It seems to work.
In the second one (the one with “navigation”) I can’t enlarge the space between items.

Hi Leonardo,
The first part is alright.
For the second part, you’ll need custom CSS to add spacing and change the way it looks.
What type of Header are you going for? Do you have a reference site we may look at to guide you with regards to the best approach?

Hi Fernando,
For the first part: glad to know it, I will do it that way.
For the second one: I’ll need a menu just like the first one. So I need a simple navigation – by adjusting the space between the items – and also a CTA button on the right.

StaffCustomer SupportHi Leonardo,
When using buttons in the header, they won’t collapse into a hamburger icon on mobile, but navigation block will.
The navigation block is a WP core block, the theme has no control over it.
However, for a simple layout like this, I don’t think you need to build a block element – site header.
You can achieve this by using the default GP header with some CSS, here’s an example on how to do that.

Hi Ying,
thanks, in fact i was just overthinking it. I’m going with default gp header 🙂
