Chintan
Hi
I have managed to use two custom fields for creating a co-author in my article by adding the custom field values manually (just using a block element as Ying suggested here: https://generatepress.com/forums/topic/two-authors-in-a-single-post/).
Now I have a couple of questions with this:
1. How can I add an author avatar for the co-author? I am using a “dynamic image” element, but if I choose “author avatar” it picks the author. If I create a third custom field for the editor’s avatar, what should its value be?
2. I want to avoid the manual work of adding co-author, its archive links, and avatar to every post where I want to have a co-author. So is it possible to add an editor to multiple posts at once?
Grateful for the help 🙂
Thank you!

StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
1, If you’re storing the Image URL/ID for the co-author avatar in a custom field, then you would set the Image blocks > dynamic date to Post Meta, and in the field provided add the name of the custom field.
2. WP doesn’t support this by default. You would need a plugin, search for co-author plugins or the alternative is to use ACF and ACF shortcodes for this.

Hi David,
Thanks much for your reply. So I managed to add the co-author avatar the way you mention, but is there a way to make this image rounded? I don’t see any option to do that: https://ibb.co/wcmP70h.
Also, I see a pixelated image for the co-author on all the articles where I haven’t added it: https://ibb.co/Xzw0QTK. How can I remove this?
Lastly, beyond the use of a plugin is it not possible to do the co-author thing at scale?

Hi Chintan,
Can you try using a GB Image Block for the author image? You can add Border Radius to the image if so, making it round.
For the second issue, let us know if it still exists after using a GB Image Block.
Lastly, you would need custom code to achieve that. It would be best to hire a developer for this. It might be good to ask for suggestions in our GP Community as well: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1113359788719597
Hope this clarifies!

Hi Fernando,
Thanks for that. I managed to overcome the first issue 🙂 Just tell me if there’s a way to equate the border radius for the two avatars on the page. I right now have just used my naked eye to choose 60 as my radius. Thank you!

StaffCustomer SupportYou can always use 100% as the
border radius
to make it a perfect circle when the width and height are the same.July 20, 2022 at 3:37 am #2288241Chintan
Alrighty thank you. So for the Image Block for co-author, I set the border radius 100%. The same option doesn’t appear for the author avatar, but it will automatically be the same still, yes? Let me know, and thanks for the help 🙂

StaffCustomer SupportRemove the GP Image Block, and use the GB Image Block. It should have the missing options.

Ah I am not sure of the difference between the two. Can you please share the visual difference, David? Also, I am using the author avatar for one author — so not sure how I can replace that with GP/GB image block elements. I am only using the image block for the co-author.

Thanks much David. This difference became clear with your reply on the other thread 🙂 Thank you. Still unsure of this: “Remove the GP Image Block, and use the GB Image Block. It should have the missing options.” As I mentioned, I am using the author avatar for one author — so not sure how I can replace that with GP/GB image block elements. Thanks for the help!

With the GB Image Block, you can retrieve Post meta images. Specifically, you can get the image for the co-author image you’ll be adding through the post meta if that’s what your intention is.
This is something the GP Image block can’t do. Which is why we’re suggesting you to use the GB Image Block instead.
So to reiterate, if you’re retrieving the actual author image, you can use the GP Image Block. If you’re retrieving a post meta co author image, use a GB Image block.
Hope this clarifies!
