Hi Tom,
Does this occur for all Button Blocks or just this single Block? Can you try duplicating the Button and see if the issue exists still?
Example: https://share.getcloudapp.com/lluElNGv
If the issue still exists, what happens if you try to recreate the button manually?
Lastly, may we know if you recently switch to Classic Editor? Take note that switch back-and-forth from the Old Classic Editor to the current Default Block Editor sometimes causes issues. We recommend not doing so.
Kindly let us know how it goes. 🙂

Hi All,
I just discovered the issue of “Can’t paste url in the button in generateblocks”. I’m not 100% sure it’s exactly what Tom is experiencing, but I’m adding it here in hopes of helping someone else not think that they are losing their minds. If you have the Gutenberg plugin installed, you CAN NOT click into the field to type where it says “Paste URL or type to search”. No matter what you do, you can not get focus on that entry field. It’s rather maddening. We’ve just lost an hour trying to figure out what was going on.
WordPress’ buttons work fine, but having Gutenberg active will break GeneratePress’ buttons.
We had been installing Gutenberg plugin because we needed the navigation blocks, but I believe those are now part of WordPress core, so we’ll stop installing Gutenberg plugin by default.
Also, we’re just using GeneratePress & GenerateBlocks. No other page builder (and now not Gutenberg plugin)

This may be related to what Tom was seeing. When we tried to set the border color on the button it gave us an error.
That problem has also been resolved by disabling Gutenberg plugin.
I’m assuming that Tom is/was also running Gutenberg?

Hi there,
I see. Gutenberg is currently the default Editor of WordPress, and no plugin is needed to be able to use the Gutenberg Editor since WordPress 5.0. It basically is already a part of WordPress.
With that said, if this plugin is causing issues, and if your WordPress version is updated, disabling this plugin would be alright.
Hope this clarifies. 🙂

Hi All,
This falls in the “better late than never” category:
The Guteberg plugin will have functionality that the version of Gutenberg in core WordPress does not have. We were running the Gutenberg plugin because we needed to use the menu navigation blocks (see: https://generatepress.com/forums/topic/navigation-menu-in-block/)
Now that menu navigation blocks have been incorporated into core, we don’t need to be running for this purpose.
The problem is, you never know when somebody may install Gutenberg to be able to access some functionality that has not been incorporated into core yet.
So, the GeneratePress / Gutenberg conflict is definitely something worth keeping on everybody’s radar.

We are aware of that, but thanks for your reminding.
