Please let me know if there is a way to add an additional font or two to the generate press premium themes. I’ve chosen a theme but would like to add additional fonts to the theme. I’m creating my blog posts in wordpress and it uses the generate press theme text. I would like to use the generate press theme text and also use other font in my blog posts. I don’t like using just one font in my posts. Please provide the step-by-step instructions. Thanks so much!!!

    Hi Lisa,

Please see our dynamic typography documentation –
    https://docs.generatepress.com/article/dynamic-typography-overview/

This is the setting for fonts to be used on the site and the theme template fonts.

    Elvin,
I’m using one of the Premium themes. I’ve been writing my blog posts using wordpress. From what I can tell – wordpress uses the typography that the premium theme uses. I would like to emphasize a few words and/or sentences with a different font. I reviewed the overview that was sent to me and this doesn’t help me. How or where do I add new font families so I can use more than one font?

I followed the video to customization, then typography.. I’m not able to add a font.

I don’t see a way to have two different font types in the same paragraph or writing block. Let me know if this is possible without writing code.

Please let me know if you need additional information.

    Thank you.

That’s correct, I’m not aware a block that does this.

Do you want the different fonts for different paragraph or for the text in the same paragraph?

Before we proceed, can you make sure the fonts you want have been added to customizer > typography > font manager?

    Let me know 🙂

    Hi Ying,
I would love to have different fonts for different paragraphs. That would work.

I haven’t loaded additional fonts under typography. I’ve reviewed the video and couldn’t tell how to get to the same area under generate press.

I’m using a generatepress premium theme. When I go to customize, typography, the option to manage fonts and/or add fonts isn’t there.

Give me the step by step instructions of where you are finding this information.

    Thanks!!

I would love to have different fonts for different paragraphs. That would work.

Once you’ve added the necessary fonts to the customizer setting, it’ll be ready for use on your content.

This way, you can set different fonts on different paragraph blocks.

    example:

Here, I have 5 font families loaded to the site through the Typography settings. (Customize > Typography)
    https://share.getcloudapp.com/L1uWpJzk

Once I’ve set this, I can pick from these fonts as to what I can use for different paragraphs using CSS:

    Example:

Creating a CSS for using Arial would be:

    https://share.getcloudapp.com/YEuBpo1d

Open Sans would be something like this:

    https://share.getcloudapp.com/mXuJAyBe

You can add in more by clicking the Add typography button. You can follow the pattern when adding more font families to be used.

And then we can use the class names for the paragraph block’s “Additional CSS Class(es)” field as shown here – https://share.getcloudapp.com/YEuBpopr

I’m using a generatepress premium theme. When I go to customize, typography, the option to manage fonts and/or add fonts isn’t there.

If you’re not seeing it, you’ll likely need to update the theme to the latest version (3.1) and make sure switch to dynamic typography. https://docs.generatepress.com/article/switching-to-dynamic-typography/

    Hi Elvin and Ying,

I checked my “GP Premium plugin” and it’s version 2.1.1. Elvin mentioned THE LATEST VERSION of GP is 3.1.0. Has the GP PREMIUM plug-in been updated with the “dynamic typography”? I haven’t received a notice to upgrade my GP PREMIUM plug-in.

    Please let me know.

    Thanks!

    Hi Lisa,

You’ll need to manually switch to dynamic typography system: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/switching-to-dynamic-typography/

Once it’s switched, you should be able to follow the video to add fonts to font manager at customizer > typography.

I would love to have different fonts for different paragraphs. That would work.

In that case, I would recommend using GenerateBlocks plugin. It allows you to choose different font for its Headline block.

You can choose p (paragraph) as its element tag: https://docs.generateblocks.com/article/headline-overview/#element

Let me know if you need further assistance 🙂
