Don
How do I create a thin black background in the sidebar top with about me text over top, with padding to separate them a small amount?

StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
Any chance you can link us to the site in question?
You can use the private information field:

The site is empty, what I want to accomplish is in the sidebar have a thin black (bar, line, etc.) with the text about me over top. Then below that a photo and then another black (bar, line, etc.) with the text Legal Info. I see how to place the picture, but the black bar and text have me stumped? Like the sidebar listed in the private section below.

StaffCustomer SupportHi Don,
You can use block to build sidebar widgets, then select the blocks group them into one:
https://www.screencast.com/t/4T9gSRVsmThe structure would be like this:

Thank You. The links are helpful, However I do not find a “headline block” If I use “Heading block” I can accomplish what the links show with one exception, the black background is extremely high above and below the text. I see no adjustments to set the height.

StaffCustomer SupportThe headline block I used is from GenerateBlocks plugin which is very useful in GP theme, I would suggest install GB plugin.
The blocks from GB are easier to use and give user more control in all aspects.
If you use the default WP heading block, some custom CSS will be needed, give this a try:
.sidebar h2 { padding: 10px; }If you are using h3 instead of h2, change it to h3 in the CSS.

Yes. Thank You, I installed GenerateBlocks plugin now I find the headline. However, still a problem I see all the controls but they don’t work. Cannot align text, change text color or background color, etc. Also the search bar and post list keep showing up, I delete them and they reappear.

StaffCustomer SupportHowever, still a problem I see all the controls but they don’t work. Cannot align text, change text color or background color, etc.
That doesn’t sound right.
Can you provide admin access to your site so we can have a look at the backend?

StaffCustomer SupportI don’t see the problem you mentioned.
I tried change the background color and text color with no issue.
https://www.screencast.com/t/ueo4v1LfkCan you give it another try?

I can see the about you added, but cannot change any of the settings, the alinement left or right, background color, text color, etc. I can add a new headline text below yours, but again no control over settings.

StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
if you go to Appearance > Widgets and select the Headline Block for that text you should see its Toolbar and Sidebar setting as seen here:
December 30, 2021 at 8:14 am #2064028Don
Yes if I go to Appearance > Widgets I can do customizing, and the setting controls for the headline work. However went I go to customize > widgets > right sidebar none of the control setting for headline work. In addition the theme keeps adding the search and the recent posts into the sidebar after I have removed them numerous times. The theme seems obsessed adding these back in. Shouldn’t I be able to customize from customize > widgets > right sidebar, also?

StaffCustomer SupportBlock Widgets are fairly new to WP core, and to be honest they still require a lot of improvements.
For now the best place to work with them is from the Appearance > Widgets area and NOT the Customizer. -
