Hello, I’ve encountered an issue with sporadically missing header and footer. They render just fine in the ‘Customize’ page. They show up at times when I check the site while logged in. However, they don’t show up outside of those context. Possible causes:

    A) It happened shortly after I deactivated and deleted (1) Elementor and (2) Elementor Header and Footer Builder. Before I deactivated and deleted those, I did create and publish a footer in Elementor Header and Footer Builder. Although I deleted the footer and removed the plugin, perhaps some conflicting code was left as a result?
    B) Around this time, I switched the Dynamic CSS Print Method to External File as well as the CSS Print Method under Settings in GenerateBlocks. Maybe this was the cause?

What I have already tried: Cleared browser cache; cleared site cache on WP; deactivated plugins; toggled to ‘Inline Embedding’ then ‘External File’; checked on other browsers. I have no cache plugins in place. The problem of missing header and footer remains.

    How can I fix this?

    Let’s take some debugging steps.

    1. Disable all your caching and optimizing plugins.

    2. Disable all your custom functions (if you are adding any) and activate the parent theme (if you are using a child theme).

    2. Disable the Disable elements and Elements module in GP Premium:
    https://docs.generatepress.com/article/installing-gp-premium/#activate-your-modules

Do the header and footer show up on every page?

Thanks for the quick response! I went through steps 1-3. The header and footer have disappeared on all pages.

I just viewed the home page and am seeing both the header:

    And the footer:

    Are you seeing something different?

Thanks for checking. These are not the header and footer mentioned. In a previous response, I noted the design difference between the homepage and the other pages. That being said, the homepage should have the navbar (which you see) and the footer (which is not there).

Looks like the header and footer you are referring to are from block elements so they disappear when you disable the elements module as I previously requested.

Can you reactivate the module again?

I’m guessing that you need to double-check the display rules of those elements to make sure they display on the desired pages.

You are using the Shop template so these are the elements I’m referring to:

I’ve reactivated the modules as advised. I went into the header module and the footer module to check display rules and they are correctly set up. I also clicked to ‘update’ each module. Now, instead of none of the pages, there are two parent pages that show the header and the footer. Once logged out though, the header and the footer don’t show up on any page.

You are referring to the “elements” showing in my screenshot here right?

Can you disable all plugins except GP Premium and provide the dashboard access here?

    Thanks!

Yes, I was referring to the elements in your screenshot.

I can deactivate most of the plugins; I’m wary of deactivating the backup plugin for concern that the backup will be lost. Meanwhile, what does dashboard access mean? Set up GP as a temporary user?

    Hi there,

I’ve checked the site and I’m actually seeing the header now but the footer is using the default theme’s footer instead of the screenshot you’ve shared.

Meanwhile, what does dashboard access mean? Set up GP as a temporary user?

Yes that’s right. We’ll have to check the backend to inspect the site for any settings that may be unhooking/disabling the footer and/or the header. You can place the credentials on the private information text field. (ideally, create a clone site for staging/development/ debugging purposes and give us access to that clone site instead.)

Note about cache: You may have to check your hosting’s CPanel if it has any page caching as well.

    Hi Elvin,

Hope you’re very well. By header, are you seeing the one in the screenshot and not the navbar? For reference, the homepage and individual product pages should be the ones that show just the navbar. We don’t see the header on the designated pages when logged out. (Browser cache was cleared before we checked.)

On cPanel, the site is running on WordPress.com and so there isn’t conventional access to the cPanel. That said, the site’s cache was recently cleared.

In terms of temp access, what role should be assigned to your team? Administrator?

    Thanks much!

    Can you disable the cache?

We would need the admin access. You can use this e-mail support@generatepress.com
