Is there a way to export elements? And if not would you consider adding it as a feature?

Also, is there a specific place to make feature suggestions? Or do you just add them based on how you see people using the plugin?

    Hi there,

We have 2 GitHub pages (one for the free theme, public. another for the plugin, private) where we log issues or feature requests taken from suggestions/requests within the forums. ๐Ÿ™‚

At the moment, the export feature of GP Premium is only for the customizer settings found in Appearance > GeneratePress.

    But to answer the question:

I believe there’s no need to add this feature as WordPress has a default tool for this.

GP Element is post type. You can export it like how you export WordPress posts and pages.

You can find this on Admin Dashboard > Tools > Export as shown here – https://share.getcloudapp.com/5zuNkODx

    Thanks!

The problem with the built in export/import is that it appears to export all posts in that post type.

Since I don’t have a full blown staging website set up, I just have a copy of the site that I work on and then move over my changes. For example, thanks to the elements feature I was recently able to implement a light weight js slider using three elements. It would have been great to be able to just export those three and import to my main site. But I can appreciate that most users may not need this feature.

If you need to selectively export posts, you’ll need a plugin for that.

Any post export plugin w/ selective function would do the trick but I’m not exactly sure if such a plugin exists.

While I can log this as a feature request, I can’t guarantee it gets implemented as this is a niche feature. ๐Ÿ˜€

Requests get implemented based mostly from its popularity. ๐Ÿ˜€

    Hi Elvin,

actually I am not sure this is a tiny niche ๐Ÿ˜€

I have the same situation here: modifying an element on the stage website and being able to export only that one to the live website (reason 1: because the other elements are already on the live website. Reason 2: because on the staging website a can experiment new elements that I then don’t need on the live one) ๐Ÿ™‚

Using this method should be the easiest for now:
