This may have been really obvious and I just totally missed it, but do I understand correctly that the Page Header image is a replacement to the standard Featured Image? Or more specifically, you cannot use both, correct? Any use of the Page Header appears to override the Featured Image…

I hate to make a request in my very first forum post, but it sure would be great to have access to both. Of course that would mean you having to set up preferences for both as well. Sorry!

(BTW, I have to tell you that it’s been a real delight to use GeneratePress (and the add-ons — that was an easy purchase decision). I come from an ExpressionEngine background and I’ve only recently gotten comfortable with WordPress development. Using GeneratePress as a “boilerplate” to start my projects has been a huge help… I was previously using Underscores and building out the same components from scratch. Thank you!)

    Hi Addison,

You’re right, the Page Header add-on replaces the standard Featured Image functionality as it’s basically the same thing but with way more options.

I wonder what the purpose of using both would be? You can add images in the Content of the Page Header add-on by adding the HTML for it?

Really glad you’re enjoying GP! ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s not a deal-breaker… I’ll admit that it wouldn’t be something I needed that often. But I like the idea of a Page Header being a, well, a header for the page — with or without a graphic. And then also having the option for a Featured Image to be used more closely with the text of the page (and not the “header”).

As I said, not a big deal — just something that would be nice.

    Thanks,
    Addison

In a case like that, you could add the “Featured Image” into the content area maybe?

And that’s exactly what I’ll do for now. I can always set up my own custom fields via ACF or Pods as well. Thanks, Tom.
