    Hi
Does GPP 2 allow to create via the elements module templates for custom post types?
I would like to create a predefined layout whenever a new post type is created.
Something line using the ‘block template‘ option in Gutenberg but with GPP.

    Thanks
    Dan

Let me refine my ask and you can tell me if this is possible with GPP 2:
Create a predefined layout with GB blocks for a CPT
The areas will be shown when a CPT is created.
The content in those blocks can be edited.
Some blocks will be dynamic, fetching custom fields, featured image, etc…
The user will have the option to move the blocks up or down the page and remove them if needed.

    Thanks,
    Dan

    Hi there,

I’m not exactly sure I fully understand what you mean but to break things down.

Create a predefined layout with GB blocks for a CPT

Yes, you can even specify if you want to apply the Block Element – Content template on archive page or single post pages of a CPT.

The areas will be shown when a CPT is created.

Not sure what you mean by this. What area? Which part of the page?

The content in those blocks can be edited.

Contents coming from posts through dynamic means can be edited through its post. Contents created within the block element can also be edited but it’s uniform on all posts.

Some blocks will be dynamic, fetching custom fields, featured image, etc…

    Yes, these are all possible.

The user will have the option to move the blocks up or down the page and remove them if needed.

This is how the Block element functions now and prior to 2.0. To put it simply, Block element is a Hook element with Gutenberg integrated minus the PHP code area. 😀

    Have you checked these out?

Hi Elvin, thanks for your support.
I would like to have a predefined layout for a CPT using blocks.
Kind of like making use of the Block Template option core has, but using GPP 2 elements for that.

I did not see an option for creating a template with a layout of blocks for a CPT. just for archives and content area for a single post not a CPT.

I didn’t see an option that after creating some fields in the ‘elements’ when a user creates a new CPT these layout fields will be already seen on the backend/editing of the post

This is the layout I would like to achieve using GPP 2 with elements in a CPT let me know if this can be done. All block areas are created (as blanks and ready for user’s input) when creating a new CPT:

I have seen all the video tutorials, but have not found a way to create the above

    Thanks for your help

    Hi there,

Nope – Block Elements and the Block Templates that are still ‘newish’ in WP are two different things.

To create that kinda ‘function’ using todays Block Elements would require each and every editable piece of content to be set using a Custom Field.

Once Full Site Editing is a stable thing in core we will be looking at how Block Templates can be introduced into the mix.

    Thanks David,
It all boils down to creating custom page/post/cpt templates per the content.
I had a previous discussion about this here and on Facebook:
    https://generatepress.com/forums/topic/preview-for-dynamic-fields/

I think this should be considered to be a functionality within GP.

    Thanks

I agree – once we see a stable release of FSE and understand the direction its taking we will be better informed on how to implement this.
