I don’t know what’s happening. When I try to paste anything on my WordPress, the formatting is not working. Everything comes in a single paragraph.
Please help me.

StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
The editor is handled by WordPres so this wouldn’t be a theme issue.
Where are you copying the content from?
March 21, 2021 at 6:41 pm #1704437Karan
I am copying my content from google docs. Even if I copy my formatted content from my WordPress and paste it again in the editor, the formatting is gone and everything is pasted in a single paragraph.

StaffCustomer SupportHi Karan,
How are you copy and pasting the content from the Google Docs document?
Note: Perhaps you’ll find this article useful.

As I told you, suppose I wrote a new article on WordPress and copied it and pasted it on the same editor, the formatting doesn’t work not even the line break is working. Everything becomes a single paragraph.
Let me give you an example, suppose I wrote
This is an example….This is an example….This is an example….This is an example….
This is an example….
This is an example….This is an example…. This is an example….
This is an example….
If I copy the above text and paste the same on the same editor where I have written but in different block. It will look like this
This is an example….This is an example….This is an example….This is an example….This is an example….This is an example….This is an example…. This is an example….This is an example….
I think you got my point.

StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
Individual Paragraph blocks are only generated if there is hard return between each parargraph.
If i copy your example above and select a new block and paste in the content i end up with 3 x paragraph blocks.
When copying content from another format eg. Google Docs you must ensure there is no styling adding to it – which is covered by the link that Elvin provided.

Please try to understand. Anything I paste on WordPress becomes a single paragraph. If you want to take a look at my website backend then tell me.

StaffCustomer SupportIf you can set up a draft page that we can edit – then please provide us with a temporary admin login and password in the Private Information field… we’ll take a look to see whats happening.
But please note – GP doesn’t have any control over the editor.

Thanks, I am aware that GeneratePress does not have control over the editor. However, if you can guide me on where to look to get the problem solved.
The details are in the Private information. Please take a look and let me know what you found.

StaffCustomer SupportI made a quick video – copying text from this topic, a GP doc page and a Word document:
https://www.screencast.com/t/OBuIz8l8K7V
All tests copy the content and correct formatting. Which means the issue must be local. Try using an incognito/private browser without any extensions to make sure its not a browser problem.

Thanks, David. One of the extensions was causing this issue.

Hi Karan! Can you let me know which plugin or extension was causing the problem? I’m experiencing the same thing and it just started this week.
Thanks,
Kim

Hi Kim Roach.
Google Chrome extention was causing the issue. I think it was ubersuggest chrome extention. Try disabling chrome extention one by one and see if its works.
