Scott
I’m trying different fonts for my website in Customizer, and they do change in the edit view in customizer. They don’t automatically change in the edit view with page/block settings, though they do change on my uploaded site. I chose fonts that aren’t in the list in the edit settings section. I entered them manually and then they do change in the edit section but they still look different than the actual font. However, they still do look correct on my website.
One of the fonts is “dosis”
I’m wondering if I’m doing something wrong, or is this just normal? I’d like for the fonts in the edit section to automatically change when I change them in customizer settings.
Would it be better if I chose fonts in customizer that also were on the list in the edit block settings?
I added a link in the private section.

StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
what option are you using to select the fonts in the Editor ? Is this in the GenerateBlocks settings or another plugin that provides that feature ?

Thanks David, I’m using GenerateBlocks. The typography settings for each of the Headings. I originally used the font “Amantic SC” which I added in the typography settings in GenerateBlocks and also in the Customizer in GeneratePress. Now that I think about it maybe because I added them in the typography sections in Generate Blocks is part of why I was having the issue. I thought the Customizer would automatically change them but maybe not because the block settings overrides the Customizer?
But I wonder why the fonts in my edit in GenerateBlocks look different than what gets uploaded to my site (which is the correct font)
I’m going to try using fonts that are included in the GenerateBlocks settings and see if that works better.
If you have any more thoughts that would be great.

StaffCustomer SupportWhen you add the Font in the GenerateBlocks blocks settings it should reflect those changes in the editor. Be sure that the font name is the exact spelling and includes any capitals

Thanks! That worked changing the fonts to the correct spelling, (I did try that last night but I think I must have been really tired) so that worked for seeing the correct font in GenerateBlocks editor.
Am I able to change the fonts site wide through customizer? Right now I still need to change each Headline individually in GB. Even though I changed to “Dosis” in customizer. I still get the old font “Amatic AC” when I add a new headline and on all other headlines in the site unless I change them individually. Is there something other than Customizer I am missing to get global fonts, to change all my headlines sitewide and future headlines all at once?

StaffCustomer SupportIf you do not change the Typography font family on an individual block then they will automatically inherit the fonts you have set in the Customizer.

It seems like that should work, I’m still getting the previous font “Amatic SC”. When I create a new headline, I’ve tried different pages and creating different containers. I added a new page but still the “Amatic SC” is the font that comes up. I definitely have the new fonts “Dosis” set for Headline 1 and “Boogaloo” set for Headline 2 in customizer. I must be missing something, I’ll keep checking around but if you have any other ideas let me know.
Thanks for your help!

I figured it out. In Customizer I had changed the Typography in Default Typography section. But I also needed to go to the second Typography section in customizer and change the Headings font settings. It still had my previous font “Amatic SC” there. Once I changed those everything worked.
I had looked in that typography section but I think I was confusing Heading with Header…
Figuring it out little by little.
Thanks

StaffCustomer SupportYep that would do it.
The way GP works ( as with any correctly set Cascading style sheet ) – is the Body font will be inherited by ALL text elements, unless you set specific typography settings in the relevant headings, buttons, navigation etc.And those settings will be overridden if you specify a font in the Editor.
Glad to hear you found the answer 🙂
