Yes you should be able to use PHP/shortcode in tandem with GP hooks. You can place some sort of related post plugin script or shortcode on a Hook Element and hook it to your single post’s
generate_after_content.However, doing this with WPSP is going to be tricky as WPSP isn’t exactly created for this kind of thing.

If its too tedious, consider using YARP – http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/yet-another-related-posts-plugin/
It is what I did because in the WPSP tutorial they explain how to do it so I dont know why is considered tricky…
So the problem is not the plugin itself, it is the fact that the hook element just work in the desktop version and not in the mobile…

Hooks should work on whatever device. Try clearing any server, plugin and browser caches to make sure you’re not seeing a cached page.
