Hi, I’ve updated to WP 5.5.3 and am seeing an unfortunate change on my front page. I am building a site in a staging environment.

On the front page, I have a logo that functions as my header. Below that I have a 3 column block, with each column holding a cover block. Each cover block has the same background image.

On my computer screen before the update, there was a pleasing white space between these columns (not sure if this is called padding or margin). After the update, the white space goes away, and the cover backgrounds touch. It’s not a look I like.

Also, after the update, the third column cover background extends to the right further than the logo above it. Before the update they were nicely aligned.

This doesn’t seem to be affecting any of the other columns on my site.

Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks for any help.

    Gail

    Hi there,

Any chance can link us to the site in question or start a staging site environment?

We really need to inspect the code for issues like this.

You can use the private information field.

    Let me know 🙂

It’s already just a staging site, so there’s no public access. I’m setting up a new user account on the staging site for you so you can see it. But I’m not sure what kind of role, and thereby permissions, I need to set for you to inspect the code.

Please let me know and I’ll get the login to you. Thanks so much for your help.

I get that. But I’m not a techie pro here. What I don’t entirely understand is the wordpress user thing. What role do I need to set for this temporary new user (that will be for you) for you to be able to evaluate the issue?: admin, editor, author, subscriber, etc…? Thanks.

Admin would be the best in case I need to look around.

    Hi there,

try going to Customizer > General and changing the Structure to Flexbox

If that doesn’t make a difference can you send us the URL for your site

By gum! That works for the front page.

BUT… It breaks the header/nav menu on all the other pages. (The nav menu on the front page is hidden, so it wouldn’t affect this page.)

Originally the other pages have the same logo as the header, with the header nav menu beneath it.

Now they are side by side, with the nav menu on the left and the logo/header on the right.

    The URL is below.

    Thanks. Gail

Go to Customizer > Layout > Primary Navigation and set its Location to Below Header.
