    Hey guys,

I just installed Wordsmith from your site library, and my site already had content; it wasn’t a new site.

I installed the site incorrectly the first time, and noticed that sample content was loaded automatically, along with 4 plugins.

Generate Blocks was one of the plugins that got installed.

The second time around, I read on your forum that I can skip loading up the sample content if my site already has it’s own content.

This time around the extra plugins did not import onto my site automatically.

My question is, do I need Generate Blocks to take full advantage of the awesome features that Wordsmith has to offer?

I noticed that the sample of the site looked way more amazing than the version I currently have running.

So do I need the block editor to add photos and blush it up?

I’m happy with it. It looks good, and it runs fast, but it’s not at the level I saw in the site library.

Am I missing out? Do I need to install it myself?

Thanks for your help in advance.

    Stephan

    Hi there,

Importing the sites without the content would only give you the customizer option which is why you are not seeing the default GB content layout from Wordsmith.

If the goal is to have something exactly the same as Wordsmith, then I’d recommend the following steps:

    – Start a staging site and duplicate your existing site over

    – Import Wordsmith including the content.

    – Delete the demo content.

    – Make the necessary tweaks

    – Duplicate the site back to the live site.

Let me know if this helps ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hey Leo,

Thanks for the suggestion, but I don’t have to have the same features as Wordsmith necessarily.

You made me an offer, so I’m going to make you a counter offerWhat if I load up Generate Blocks on my own and customize my site to have additional images and features that I like?

Sounds like a lot less work to me…

I’m with Wealthy Affiliate, so they have some pretty good tutorials on block editing. I think that might work out better for me.

Or is there a lot of code in the background that allows those extra features to work on Wordsmith? Darn it. You might be right.

Truth is, I’ve never created a dummy site before. Is it hard? What do you have to do?

You can definitely just start creating your own layout from GenerateBlocks. I would say that there is a bit of learning curve with GB and Gutenberg but should be super useful once you get a good grasp on them.

Please make sure to reply in the thread here and not through e-mails ๐Ÿ™‚
