I am enjoying trying Generatepress 3.0.0 on my iMac, using MAMP. I would like to use the facility of the search icon in the menu bar, and have selected this under the Customise/Layout/Primary Navigation. However this does not work, and no search icon appears unless I disable the official AMP plugin. Is this a known issue, and is there a way round this please?

    Hi there,

Can you confirm that you are using this plugin to make GP AMP compatible?
    https://github.com/tomusborne/amp-for-generatepress

It should work with the official AMP plugin:

Yes, I have your own AMP plugin enabled. And other than that, only GP Premium for the testing. If I then toggle the official AMP plugin (2.0.4) on and off, the menu search disappears and reappears!

I also tested after removing any Additional CSS in the Customizer, but that made no difference.

Any chance you can link us to the site in question?

You can use the private information field.

    Let me know :)d

I don’t think I can, sadly, as it is on my desk computer, using MAMP.

However, I see that the exact same problem occurs with the live version of my site, using the GP 2.4.2 theme and Marketer from the library. The search icon reappears if I disable the official AMP plugin.

    I’ll add login details privately.

    Hi there,

The navigation search feature requires javascript, and javascript isn’t supported in AMP. So, GP will automatically disable the nav search if it detects AMP.

Let us know if you need more info 🙂

Ah! Thank you Tom. It seems I shall just have to live without the menu search, or without AMP!

Thanks for all your great work.

No worries! Implementing some of our JS features in AMP is on the roadmap 🙂

    Hi Mauricio,

This is a plugin that allows AMP compatibility.

To install this plugin, save the .zip file to your computer and upload it inside your Dashboard in the “Plugins > Add New > Upload” area.

    Reference: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/amp-compatibility/

All plugins, when installed, can be found in /wp-content/plugins/

    Hope this clarifies. 🙂

    Dear Tom,

Is there any update for this feature?
I met same search box issue at AMP version.

    Many thanks,
    Chit

    Hi there,

We don’t currently have any immediate plans to build features specifically for AMP.
