[Resolved] Yoast or theme adding site title?

Hi Tom,

I have the yoast seo plugin installed and for some reason the site title is added even when I tell it not to. The weird thing is it doesn’t always do this https://i.imgur.com/q4d3bcT.png but most of the time they look like this https://i.imgur.com/ScoQw4d.png.

Google tells me that Yoast blames the theme but I have evidence that it has worked with GP before. Yoast support are much less responsive than GP so I thought I’d ask here before reporting the issue to Yoast.

Hi Mike,

GP doesn’t do anything at all when it comes to the title – we don’t even have a <title> tag in the header file as it’s against the rules on WordPress.org now.

GP simple declares support for the title tag like this: https://make.wordpress.org/core/2014/10/29/title-tags-in-4-1/

This gives WordPress full control over the tag, which plugins like Yoast can then filter and change.
