Why do I have an error when I click edit with elementor?

When I go into any one of my pages from dashboard and click edit with elementor, I see a pink banner on top during the transition that says Updating Failed. Then, once the loading is finished there's an error box that says, "Sorry, the content area was not found in your page. You must call 'the_content" function in the current template, in order for Elementor to work on this page. I'm a newbie.
