Whats the best/popular site width?

Whats the best/popular site width? I found my right siderbar sometimes not visible in the screen width of device that like tablet or ipod. the desktop view if too small, part of sidebar is not visible. can you help me to fix it? desktop with big width screen and phones usually are OK.
I don't think there's a right answer - it depends on the design of your website. 1200px is always a pretty safe bet.

I tried 1200, but the ads goes out of the sidebar. Take a look. But there is room on the left still. The ads is always not in the center of the sidebar as it should be. Even the first one, it looks like in the center, but its not, the ads only shows half of it, when I expands the site wider, the ads appears fine, but still lean to the right. Hope you can tell me how to fix it.

That example is using 300px, but you might need to tweak it to suit your needs.
Is right sidebar only appear on the desktop view? and always disappear on tablet/ipad device?
