Hi Tom,
I am still trying to solve the problem of my videos not showing up on tablets and phones. I have found a page with the solution for videojs but I don’t understand the instructions. Would really appreciate it if you could be specific as to what I need to do.
One of my websites in question is http://caribbeanholiday.ca
I have put the following code in GP Hooks After Header:
<div class=”blue-border-box”>
<?php if ( is_front_page() ) { ?>
<center>[videojs mp4=”http://caribbeanholiday.ca/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/pool.mp4″ preload=”auto” autoplay=”true” loop=”false” controls=”false” height=”360″ width=”960″]</center>
<?php } else { ?>
<?php } ?>
</div>It shows up fine on computer but not on iPad.
Instructions to make it show up on iPad are at http://coolestguidesontheplanet.com/videodrome/videojs/
Can you tell me please, based on the info in the link above, what code do I add to GP Hooks, do I need to add code to header.php in themes, do I need to add to Custom CSS, do I need to add code via FTP somewhere?
Sorry, I just don’t understand the instructions they give.
Would really appreciate your help. Thanks!

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperHi Mary,
Those instructions look like they’re for people who are including the videoJS script themselves – aren’t you using the WordPress plugin?
If you’re using the plugin, then the above won’t work, and it’s up to the plugin to make the video responsive.
Also, it seems the linked info is simply making it so the video responds in size as you re-size or browser or use a phone/tablet – is your video showing up at all on mobile? Or is it just a completely blank area?

Hi Tom,
Yes I am using the Plugin and there is an option in the Settings for choosing Responsive Video but it doesn’t work when I re-size my browser window on my computer, and in the iPad it just shows a black box, no arrow, nothing to indicate that there is anything there at all.

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperHmm, I’m afraid there’s not much I can suggest as I don’t have a lot of experience with the plugin.
Is it actively maintained? Have you tried opening up a support ticket with then?
Maybe try looking for some other HTML5 video plugins?

Thanks Tom. The only plugins I have found are Videojs which has this problem of not showing up on tablets, and Featured Video Plus which shows up on tablets but keeps looping. I have opened several support tickets with both forums and can’t get a response. The looping is obviously a bug since people have been asking for a solution for 10 months. No support at all.
Thank you for your help. Much appreciated! I will keep looking for another plugin.

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperHave you tried this one? https://wordpress.org/plugins/secure-html5-video-player/
It was updated recently π

Hi Tom,
Yes, I think I have tried most of theml. Secure HTML5 Video works perfectly with Safari and Chrome but has several issues on Firefox. They have a page https://wordpress.org/plugins/secure-html5-video-player/faq/ that addresses the problem but I’ve done as it suggests and it still doesn’t work. I’ve got a ticket in with them now.
Here is a summary of the ones I’ve tried, if you’re interested:
Featured Video Plus – loops
Video JS – doesn’t show up on iPad but is Responsive!
Flowplayer commercial – (to remove icon) $512 for 100 sites
Easy Video Player/Wordpress Video Player (Noor) – shows FlowPlayer icon
Advanced Responsive Video Embedder – NextGenThemes – only for Youtube, etc, not mp4’s
JW Player (Longtail) β too complicated
KVS Player β doesn’t work
OS Media β unable to install
Video Gallery 1.1.5 / Huge IT Video Gallery β must be Youtube or Vimeo
WordPress Video Player 1.5.5 β Spider β only YouTube & Vimeo
Stream Video Player β no
vooPlayer β controls do not show up on iPad β just white box β waiting to hear from their support -
