Vertically align image and excerpt with left alignment on post pages

Hi:

I'd like to have left-aligned post titles, meta data, image, and excerpts (in that order from top to bottom) for my post pages. However, when I check off "left align" for the image in Customization (Under Layout -> Blog -> Featured image -> Posts; then selecting "location: below title" and "alignment: left") the image left-aligns but the excerpt shifts to the right of the image, rather than remaining below the image. Can you tell me how to keep the excerpt below the image?
