A couple months ago I started a website with Generatepress without any problems. Now I want to build a second website with Generatepress by using WordPress. However, WordPress tells that you can’t use the free wordpress to activate any plugins. So I need to buy a wordpress subscription to can work with Generatepress? in my opinion that was not necessary the last time. Hopefully someone can help me with this!

    Hi there,

WordPress.com is the commercial side of WordPress and does require a paid subscription for adding Themes or Plugins that are outside of there standard offering.

WordPress.org is their free version but requires a paid hosting service.

So with wordpress.org it is also possible to work with GeneratePress? The only important thing is to have a webhosting? I want to renew a website that has already a domain and webhosting.

Yes GP and WordPress.org work perfectly together. And yes you would just need your own hosted service.
