Hi! I have the GP Premium plugin, and I checked that the license is entered. When I try to update the plugin, I get this error message:

The update process is starting. This process may take a while on some hosts, so please be patient.

    Howdy,
I don’t want to hijack this thread, but I have exactly the same problem and the same message about an unauthorized download attempt.
My WordPress installation runs on CentOS 7 with Apache.

    Hello,

    This might help: https://generatepress.com/knowledgebase/updating-add-ons/
Let us know if it still doesn’t work.

    Hi,

yes, updating the plugin manually works. But it’s still a workaround, not an solution.
    Thanks nevertheless.

    No need to update manually.

The unauthorized message means your URL has changed since you activated your key.

If your URL changes, you need to remove your key, save and then add it again and save.

This will tell the server your new URL and will authorize the update.

    Hi,

thank you for this information, Tom. Good to know.
But I am still free to use GP Premium on as many websites as I like, whether they’re for me or my clients?

    Absolutely!

There is an argument for clients to have their own licenses though: https://deliciousbrains.com/clients-should-own-wordpress-plugin-licenses/

Thanks for sharing the link. I read the article and the comments and I’m going to think it over.

Thanks Tom! I see what happened — the URL did change when we moved it from a staging environment. I re-entered the license key and it worked.
