two toned menu bar

Part of the menu bar along the top of my site is in black and part in a dark gray. It is meant to be all black. I had someone check it from another computer in a different location and the appearance is the same. Does anyone know what might cause this or how to change it?
I have since noticed that this only happens when I am on the home page.

Try using a custom link for the parent menu items:

All the parent menu items that begin with word "Topic" are custom links. Only the "About This Site" page and "Stuff" (blog) are not.
Can you try using the custom links for sub menu items (Sub Topic 1 etc).
The URL field in the menu items can't be empty.
