Two Home pages

I have inadvertently ended up with two pages basically the same. One is a static page that opens when clicking HOME in the menu and can be readily edited. The other appears to be a post that opens when clicking the LOGO and does not appear to be accessible for editing. This post also shows an update widget of the last page/post being edited.
I assume this has something to do with how I have interpreted the following sentence on customizing Homepage Settings, but I cannot see how to correct this issue.
To set a static homepage, you first need to create two Pages. One will become the homepage, and the other will be where your posts are displayed.

I'm not quite sure what you mean but this should be the setting you are looking for:

So if you want a static home page, then you need to select that page as the Front Page.
