    Hey guys,

We have a couple pages we’re building that are monsters and we’d like to give visitors the ability to see where they use using id’s.

Elementor seems to provide this build into their themes, but I cannot seem to find a plugin or a feature within Generate Press that offers this feature.

Here’s an example of what were looking to add. https://wpmet.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Navigation_link_preview.png

This wouldn’t be a nav menu build in the menu’s part of wordpress, but would be dynamic(?) based on the number of section/container id’s on the page and would allow the visitor to see both depth of the page as well as where they are in context.

Any help is appreciated. Very much not a Generate Press technical issue, but looking for direction for you for a compatible solution.

    Thanks!

Apparently this is also referred to as vertical dot navigation and it appears fullpage.js provides this feature.

Looking for any input from GP on compatibility or other solutions. Just wanted to drop these bits in here in case it helps the conversation.

    Cheers!

    Hi there,

theres three main parts to this:

    1. creating a Table of Contents ( Toc )

Creating the ToC can be done with one of the many available plugins.

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/search/table+of+contents+plus/

The two at the top of that list are the most common ones we see being used.

    2. having the ToC “float” over the content

Some of the plugins, probably a premium feature will provide a sticky option.
Or alternatively if placed inside a Sidebar it can be made to stick using some CSSS.

    3. style the “current” ToC item to provide a visual queue of the currently viewed section.

That, i am not sure, as it would need to be the ToC plugin that provided that option.

But points 1 and 2 are definitely achievable as i have see many GP users do so.

Thank you for the input! Was hoping for a simple solution, but appreciate the input. We’ll keep digging! 🙂
