Thumbnails wrong size after update

Hi guys,
Recently after the new wordpress update and the installation of the SSL certificate, my thumbnails have come pearshaped (quite literally).
I had nice square thumbnails and now they're just lengthy and "zoomed in". I try regenerate plugin type but it has done nothing for me, any ideas?

thats odd, can you go to the Customizer > Layout > Blog > Featured Images > Archives and tell me if there is anything in the Width and Height Fields?
Well, that was a really simple solution for a problem I've been trying to solve for weeks hahahaha.
Thanks a lot David, not sure why they suddenly changed size with the update though....
Its odd that an update would cause that, did the fields have any values in them?
Yup they did, 500 px * 200 px, put them back to 300 300
that is strange. I'll have a chat with Tom, can't see why it would do that, but at least you have got it fixed :)

It's actually weird the first time they updated to the new wordpress it did it and I sort of fixed it with the re smush plugin.
Then they did another update and it went back to it. And then resmush was useless this time around.
