[Support request] The content area was not found

Hi,

Since going from http to https we bump into some problems on our Elementor site. One of them is certain pages not loading in the editor anymore. We are getting some errors in Chrome on loading these pages (see url below). I have contacted Elementor support today and after testing the pages they came back with this info:

When trying to edit the specific pages you provided, I can confirm that the Editor gets stuck on Loading Screen. I tried by deactivating WPML plugin, it doesn’t get resolved yet, however the error changes to “The content area was not found” error. This error is related to your theme that lacks of the ‘the_content’ PHP tag on the specific page you need to edit. Elementor relies on ‘the_content’ PHP tag in order to be able to tell where the editable content should be placed within your page/post.

Can you tell me if this is right? And if so, what to do about it?

Hi there,

It’s frustrating Elementor would blame GP and give you answer like this.

the_content() definitely exists in GP.

If you take a look at their article below for this error, the Note suggested to use GeneratePress as debugging tips:

I would recommend to go back to Elementor’s support for a better answer.
