Hello Tom,
sometimes your language is so much easier, even if I only master it rudimentarily. π For you there is only the speech “you”, in contrast to us German with the distinction of “Du” and the formal “Sie”
As the title implies, the conversion of WordPress from German to German (Sie) does not work in the GeneratePress Theme π
If I activate the Twenty Seventeen theme, everything works fine.
If you have a solution for that, I would be very grateful to you, as this is required for a customer website.
best regards

Is this the translation you’re talking about?: https://translate.wordpress.org/locale/de/formal/wp-themes/generatepress
If so, we’ll need to get it up to 100% in order for the translation to ship. If you can help with that, we can get it shipped ASAP π
Thanks!
July 20, 2018 at 9:01 pm #628868DWCoreHello Tom,
that’s exactly what I mean and I’ve just completed this as well as I could.
July 21, 2018 at 10:12 am #629248TomLead DeveloperLead DeveloperAwesome, I’ve contacted the translation editor to approve them π
Thank you!
July 23, 2018 at 7:45 am #630655DWCoreHello Tom,
Will you let me know if the translation is available?
Thank youJuly 23, 2018 at 9:23 am #630801TomLead DeveloperLead DeveloperIt should be available now.
You can check by going to “Dashboard > Updates” and clicking the Update Translations button π
July 25, 2018 at 12:32 am #632161DWCoreHello Tom,
“Dashboard> Updates”?
I can not find this. There are also no updates of the theme displayed.
Or did I misunderstand something?
July 25, 2018 at 10:18 am #632604TomLead DeveloperLead DeveloperYou don’t see anything about translations in there?: https://codex.wordpress.org/Dashboard_Updates_Screen#Translations
July 25, 2018 at 11:07 am #632639DWCoreNo.
Translation:
All translations are up to date.July 25, 2018 at 8:30 pm #632897TomLead DeveloperLead DeveloperWell that’s annoying, you can see the language is at 99% now: https://translate.wordpress.org/locale/de/formal/wp-themes/generatepress
If you go here: https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-themes/generatepress/de/formal
Click “Export” at the bottom. It should download a
.po
file.Upload that file into
wp-content/translations/themes
(or something similar) using FTP or your file manager inside your hosting control panel. You should see a bunch of other
.po
files in there.Let me know π
July 25, 2018 at 11:49 pm #632940DWCoreHello Tom,
Alright. But did not work until after I renamed the file in generatepress-de_DE_formal.po.
One more question. I always use a child of a theme. How can I ensure that subsequent changes to a translation or plugin are not lost during an update?
Thanks again for your help.
July 26, 2018 at 9:11 am #633330TomLead DeveloperLead DeveloperSince you added them in
wp-content/translations
, they won’t be lost when you update π -
