Hi,
Without using an external plugin I Want to create custom category pages. How do i do that using GP?
May 4, 2020 at 12:25 pm #1269424LeoStaffCustomer SupportHi there,
There aren’t any specific options built for category archives – the settings inherit to the blog settings in the customizer:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/blog-content-layout/If that doesn’t help, what exactly are you looking to do?
May 4, 2020 at 12:38 pm #1269443KapilHi Leo,
So on each category page I want to be able to define what that category is all about along with important links.Post that I want to show the blog posts sorted descending(latest first)
Please advise workarounds on how to do this if not possible.

https://docs.generatepress.com/article/header-element-overview/If not do you have an example of what you’d like to achieve?
Thanks!
May 4, 2020 at 1:39 pm #1269497KapilHi Leo,
I would implement as per your suggestions as I’m really new to this stuff. So here is something that I want.
One each category page I want below things in sequence with the ability to use elementor as the page builder to put links and buttons
1. Category Description of 500 words
2. Important links related to the category.
3. All Blog Posts(sorted latest to oldest)Please give me a wireframe(main steps) of how to proceed and I shall do my self paced homework then.(Note: to make the category pages attractive) I want it to be able to edit those in elementor
That’s the only requirement
May 4, 2020 at 1:55 pm #1269530LeoStaffCustomer Support1. Category Description of 500 words
2. Important links related to the category. If you want to add these two things under the header and navigation, then you can create a header element for it. Please have a look at all three links for more details:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/header-element-overview/
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/page-hero-examples/
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/how-to-create-a-page-hero/You can also use Elementor to create the template and add the shortcode as the header element content:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/how-to-create-a-page-hero/#step-1-add-the-contentI want it to be able to edit those in elementor
It’s not possible to edit archive/posts pages using the default Elementor. I believe you would need a special add-on but please confirm with their support.

Thanks for the guidance.
So if I create an elementor template and then simply use that shortcode in the header element, I think that should resolve all my concerns.May 4, 2020 at 2:03 pm #1269542LeoStaffCustomer SupportSounds good 🙂
