hi tom

i was randomly checking structured data in the google tool for my posts and i saw link.
i have always seen this link before but never paid attention to it.
this time I pasted the link in the browser and it returned to me 404 not found error.

i am using wp recipe maker premium plugin for my website. so i wrote to the developer and brecht said that this error is due to theme or plugin. i deactivated plugins and checked, but its not due to plugins.

i also checked other websites using wp recipe maker, but they do not have this error. i also checked a few websites using generatepress theme and they do have this error in the structured data tool.

the error comes in the 'creative work' section of the structured data tool.
there is a ID at the top which has a url link ending with recipe number like this which is grey in color - ID: https://www.vegrecipesofindia.com/fruit-punch-recipe/post-191310

this url does not exist and returns 404 error.
this is happening with all the posts. ideally no id link should come on top having a 404 not found error.

you can check it in action here on this link - https://search.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool/u/0/#url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.vegrecipesofindia.com%2Ffruit-punch-recipe%2F

how can this be resolved.

Hi there,

So just to make sure, does this error disappear when you switch to a twenty series Wordpress theme?

hi leo

i activated two themes on the website - twenty 17 and ocean pro theme. for both the themes this error was not there. i checked all the fields. in fact the 'creative work' field is not appearing for both wordpress twenty 17 and ocean pro theme.

i activated generatepress theme again and the error has appeared in the structured data. i did flush the cache in each instance after activating the themes and checked on google structured data tool.

as i have mentioned in my above comment, that websites using generatepress theme are having this problem.

do let me know how i can solve this.

Hi there,

That's the @id, it's not actually a URL that's referenced anywhere, therefore it won't create a 404.

However, it should likely have a # in it, which is something we're looking into.

thanks tom for this info. i hope it does not have any negative effect.

It doesn't :)

thanks tom.
