In the Marketer child-theme, is there a simple way to get the featured image to ignore the 40px left, right and top margins so that it stretches to the edge of the body container on those three sides?

    Hi there,

in Customizer > Layout > Blog –> Featured Images > Uncheck The Display Padding around Featured images. Note there is a separate options tab for Archives, Posts and Pages.

Thanks David but that only removes the top margin and leaves 40px to the left and right. Setting those margins to -40px doesn’t resolve the problem as the image doesn’t expand to fill the space.

    Is this on the archives?

    Nope, on single posts.

This is what I end up with –> https://i.imgur.com/Ab8vKpb.png

The reason for that is the demo images are only 700px wide and the main content is 750px.

Why are the obvious solutions the most difficult to see? [slaps head]

What’s the best way to resolve that – bigger images or setting up the thumbnails differently?

    Bigger images always best.
Personally i upload my image to be the largest size i need it. If thats within the content then just measure the content with dev tools.

If i am using a a big featured header image then i would set my Largest Thumbnail to match the content width.

Alternative is to reduce the Container width to suit.
