Hi Tom

Im having a strange problem with simple <p> tags being removed, including the <p> formatting, after a simple edit. I understand WP removes the ACTUAL tag, so I'm discussing the "formatting" being changed.

Speak to me in technical terms please Tom.

Thanks

Tom ,David.
Im so old & webmaster rusty, I forgot about validation.
So wait on responding pleas until I get back. here.

No problems. Keep us posted.

Hi David, well after playing in the old time validator I'm used to (validator.w3.org - are there better one these days?) I remain stumped. See piks below.

Validator says:

Another code view from validator.

But in WP page customizer view, no such errant </p> code exists?

Thanks

<p> elements inside shortcodes can get weird, especially if the shortcode is filtering them to prevent empty elements (which WordPress does sometimes).

Does the same issue happen if you temporarily remove the column shortcode?

Does that include YOUR column plugin?

Ive tried to use your plugin, Lightweight grid columns, but am baffled by the UI, talks about desktop, mobile, tablet, but does not how many columns one wants, IE: 2-3-4-5-6 columns. Very confusing compared to the simple UI of "Shortcodes Ultimate".

Yes, my columns plugin tries to remedy the empty <p> issue as well.

I'm not sure if it would cause this same issue though. Did you try removing the column shortcode to see if the issue goes away?

I did Tom, problem is gone.

But strange still, since I'm using that same exact column code on that page in a few places? And on several other websites?

It could be the way it's set up. For example, are there empty lines above and below each column shortcode in one area and not the other?

Hmmm. I'll stop bothering you. Wish your Column plugin " Lightweight grid columns," had a simple 2, 3, 4, etc column choice, versus the confusing "desktop, mobile, tablet" choices.

Those choices just allow you to change the number of columns depending on screen size. If you play around with it a little bit it should make sense :)
