Something is terribly wrong with my menu

Hi there,
There's something very wrong with my menu. Instead of opening an item, all three of my browsers to to download stuff like
Nwd43aFV.dms
It's in both my primary and secondary nav and Polylang language.
I'm not sure what I did and if this a theme or wordpress issue - or something else I did - but I'd be most grateful if you could you advice me on what's going on?

At present the problem appears to be solved in Safari and Chrome, but still occurs in Firefox...

I just tried a few menu items and not seeing the problem.
I'd recommend trying #1 here to eliminate any plugin conflicts first:

Thanks for your reply and the article with debugging tips. I tried them all and eventually my host found the problem in the error log; apparently I used the wrong program to write my .user.ini file.
It was very strange and though you couldn't duplicate it, as a matter of fact I think you encountered when you looked at my other support question: https://generatepress.com/forums/topic/changing-font-size-navigation-menu-german/#post-655222.
But this one is fixed now, and I really appreciate your advice :-)
