smallest featured to use for tasty theme

Hi, I just want to know what is the smallest sized image I can use for the Tasty theme? from 500-600 px is okay?
And concerning the captions for my image gallery, the texts are not centered. What can be done about it?
Concerning the permalinks for my images, I tried to use the slug to edit my image permalink but it still generates the same characters (link provided in the private info field)
