Good Day
We are looking to add a slider on our home page.
Will this slow down the website or affect the speed? Also if we want to add an Instagram feed on the home page what would you suggest?
We have added a link for support to see what we have in mind for design.
Your response would be appreciated.
Kind Regards
Also any suggestions on which plugins would be the best
Hi there,
Sliders typically slows down your website a bit but we can't say how much - you can test this by running speed test before and after.
I've had good experiences with Smart Slider 3.
I don't have a recommendation for the Instagram feed unfortunately.
Thanks.
Would you suggest running a gtmetrix test after installing and added a demo slider?
Yes.
Trying to test the plugin,
After adding the shortcode on the homepage it is limited to a block and not in fullwidth?
Any advice on this? Screenshot available.
We are using elements in generate press for headers
Can you link me to the page in question?
We have removed the header. But we have added the page for you below.
I don't see a slider added in the linked page.
Also, instead of using the cover block from Gutenberg, I'd recommend using the full width container block from GB:
https://docs.generateblocks.com/article/container-overview/
And setting the content container width if you want full width content on your page:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/content-container/
Hey there
We have not updated all our plugins etc.
Please see the example page of where we are adding a header, as you can see it is not working.Alternatively, how do we add this shortcode into the elements part for the page?
It says "sorry you are not allowed to preview draft"
Sorry, wrong link. Please see below.
I have added a couple of different ones.
Please also view on mobile. We added a container and added the shortcode and direct slide and selected. It doesn't fill the page or middle column.
Also, we don't know how to add the sliders in the main header "elements"
Hope this gives you enough information.
Is the slider the only full width element you want on that page?
No this is only a dummy page to try and replicate how we want to update our pages moving forward.
We need
1. Full-width elements slider.
2. And then we might add a slider for reviews further down, but it needs to cover the full width of our page as we set it up as you can see from the link we provided.
3. As you will see the link I provided if you go on mobile the whole slider is blocked up and not in full width.
