Slideout menu and AMP

Slideout menu doesn't work on AMP pages. Is there a way to convert the menu to pure CSS and make it compatible with AMP?
As of right now, it requires javascript which won't work on AMP pages.
I'll look into integrating an AMP-friendly off canvas panel in the future - possibly in our AMP for GeneratePress plugin.
Any updates on this? I'm also interested in this feature
No timeline as yet, we're focusing on GP 2.4 and GPP 1.9 releases and a new block plugin at this time.
