Hi there, my site is messed up by importing site templates from the Site Library. To templates are even mixed together, and now I don’t know how to get rid of this again.

I have deleted the home page, no luck, changed to another theme, but returning to GeneratePress child theme, the template is back. Why does the new template not overwrite the old by default?

I am reluctant to use WordPress Reset, as I do not know, how much this plugin resets. Now I have a site with a header, and sidebars from the template, but no content.

    Hi there,

do you have any content you need to keep on the Site?

That depends of, what content you are referring to, do you mean inside WP content, including plugins?

Pages, Posts, Media – any content that you created.

you should really warn about installing these site libraries, you expect them to behave like page templates in Elementor, but they are not, they are ripping the whole page

What about costumizations in functions.php in Child theme folder, bp-custom.php in plugin folder?

We do cover this information during the installation process, stating that Theme options, plugins and content will be imported. We also advise to only use the site library on clean installations. The documentation here provides lot of detail.

    https://docs.generatepress.com/collection/sites/

The article on Uninstalling a site provides two mechanisms.
The first is to manually do this, if you have content you wish to keep then this would be the route to go.
The second is the fast route but will restore your site to a clean install removing all content.

Alternatively you can revert to a backup. Or export your content you wish to keep. Do the reset and then re-import.

The first step in the install process is the backup – which would have downloaded all of your customizer settings. you can re-import them via Appearance > GeneratePress > Import.

Yes Woo and BB content would be removed if you do a WP Reset. It effectively wipes your database.

Back on track, I chose the manual deletion of the files.

So what is the right procedure when testing site library’s?

Can I just export GP settings, and if you want to go back, I just use the import option in GeneratePress, which will overwrite the old theme template files including pages, widgets and media?
Or do I have to be sure I want to use the template, otherwise I have to go through the deletion process again?

Why is these templates in the site library behave different from, as mentioned, Elector front page templates or Site Origin Page Builder front page templates, which gives you the option of deleting the content on the page, or stack it on top of the old design?

    Regards

I noticed that some of the Nouveau site can be edited in Elementor, but eg Catalyst can not?

    Awesome 🙂
So the current method is from a clean install, install a site, if you want to check out another one then use the WP Reset to wipe it, and start over. We’re looking at a better approach but the WordPress importer doesn’t make that easy.

The sites are broken into categories: Without Pagebuilder and With Pagebuilder. The latter are either Elementor or BeaverBuilder. No other pagebuilders currently planned as we haven’t had any demand from the community.

All of the Sites regardless of whether they use a pagebuilder will do Theme customizations and generally add CSS which is found in the Customizer > Additional CSS.
Then the plugins, and the its settings are installed.

Finally its the content, which will import media, post content etc. this includes any pages or section (not theme) templates that are built out using a page builder. It also includes anything built using GP Elements such as the Page Headers.

With the non pagebuilder ones, say you just like the theme element styles such as the layout, navigation and blog styling you could import one without any of the Content (just skip that step).

    Thanks for the clarification.

Do you mean Pagebuilder from Site Origin? I deleted than one because I like the Elementor approach
    better.
But is it an advantage to have Pagebuilder installed, in relation to using the Site Library?
