Anyone have any thoughts on this? I want to track visitors on the site, at least to a certain extent, but I’d like to avoid cookies and Google. What is the best way to do it?

Sorry we don’t have experience or opinion on this – generally people just go with the Google way.
You might have better audience on Stackoverflow for a question like this.
