Simple way to set up dispatch?

hi - just purchased the premium and I have to say that as a non developer I'm seriously frustrated right now and I wondering if I made a mistake. is there an easy way to get this theme to look like the demo? I'm used to themes with 1 click import or otherwise simple settings. will I be able to do this on my own or is it going to cause massive frustration? very confused and have been reading documentation for the past hour.... :(

sorry to hear of your frustrations. We do only recommend installing Sites on a clean install as conflicts and issues can arise with an existing site.
When you imported the site did you select the option to Import Content ? As this would have been required to add the elements you're missing.

No didn’t do that because you have a warning NOT to import the content if you have an existing site.
So what do you suggest to fix when switching theme for existing site?
My approach would be:
Move your existing site to a Staging site.
Run the Site Library Import including content.
Then go through the site to make the necessary changes as the site library will have enabled its own menus, logos/site identity , widgets etc.
Remove the content from the Site Library that is not required, eg. those extra pots it installed.
Then just a check of the site to make sure things are as they should be.
Once happy - push the Staging site to Live.
