Tom
Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperIt’s the exact same mechanism as updating WordPress or plugins – the theme updates are handled through WordPress.org. When you got to “Appearance > Themes” is there no notification of the update?

No there isn’t…
April 25, 2016 at 10:43 am #189311Tom
Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperThat is very strange. WordPress handles the theme updates just like the WP updates and plugin updates, so if those work, the theme updates will as well.
Any chance you can send me temporary admin login details to support@generatepress.com so I can give it a try?
Let me know ๐

I did so. You should have received an email

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperHmm, I’m convinced there must be something going on with your WordPress installation/server.
Tell your hosting company that you’re running GeneratePress 1.3.14, but the latest version is 1.3.28 (shown here: https://wordpress.org/themes/generatepress/)
All plugins and themes on WordPress.org are updated through them directly to WordPress, so if the update isn’t showing up, it means your site isn’t communicating with WordPress.org.
It may be worth checking your wp-config.php file for any lines that look like they deal with updates as well.
I’ve never actually come across this issue before, so it’s tough to diagnose what’s going on.

But I get all the other updates (e.g. wordpress itself)?
They were asking me what the system requirements are for the update mechanism, since they see no issue on their side?April 25, 2016 at 11:34 pm #189399Volkmar
I deleted it and installed it again. Now it is working again. the open question remains: will I get the future updates?

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperI couldn’t really tell you I’m afraid. Like I said, we have no control over the theme updates – it’s 100% WordPress.org (just like WordPress and plugin updates).
The only updates we have full control over are GP Premium updates.
Do any of the other themes you have installed ever require updates?

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperIs Twenty Sixteen at least installed (no need to be activated)? Has it received any update notifications?
April 26, 2016 at 10:13 am #189549Volkmar
Twenty Sixteen?
April 26, 2016 at 10:16 am #189552Tom
Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperThe default theme that comes with WordPress – it should be installed if you go to “Themes”. No need for it to be activated in order to receive updates.
I’m just trying to figure out if theme updates are somehow disabled on your installation.
April 26, 2016 at 10:18 am #189556Volkmar
I just installed it…
April 26, 2016 at 10:21 am #189558Tom
Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperCool, so just keep it installed (GeneratePress can still be active) and see if it gets any updates in the near future. That should show us if you’re receiving theme updates or not.
April 26, 2016 at 10:26 am #189563Volkmar
Will keep you updated!
