Just import the site with the plugins and delete them afterwards.

Thanks Leo. If a plugin is deleted for a theme such as Emerald, how does it affect the site e.g. layout?

Depends which plugin you delete. eg. Removing the Woocommerce plugin will only affect the Shop / Product pages that Woo generates and any pages with shortcodes. It won't directly affect the the sites layout or other customizer settings.
