    Using sections.
In the first section: I input the button html, set up the css, it looked good in the browser but needs editing. I open sections and rather than opening in the text edit (where I left it) the section edit opens in Visual editor and the button html is gone, gone, gone! The button text is now wrapped in ”  – non-breaking space”

This cannot continue. IMHO it’s a pretty bad bug and would require disabling the visual editor.
I’m a generate press newbie but have developed many a wordpress site.
    Suggestions please.

    Hi there,

Not being able to stay in the “Text” editor is a bug in Sections right now caused by the WordPress 5.0 update. We’re working on a fix.

However, the editor should only strip HTML if it’s invalid. Can you share the HTML you’re using? Be sure to highlight the code and click the “code” button here in the editor.

Well the code that I used is gone, and there was a problem with it.
I’m using code from your website, modified for my needs:
    <a href="https://google.com">Button to Google</a>

Must have been a problem with the code.

So you add this to the Text editor:

    <a href="https://google.com">Button to Google</a>

And when you come back into the Section, it’s gone? That’s the only code you’ve added?

I believe we’ve fixed the issue where the editor always opens in the Visual Editor. Feel free to get in touch and we can send over the patched version before we release it: https://generatepress.com/contact
