Search leads to 404

Hi, I've just discovered that search has stopped working on my Generatepress site.
When I use search from the menu it leads to my standard 404 page, which includes a search box, but that doesn't work either.
If I search for a term that appears on the homepage, it leads straight to the homepage.
I've tried disabling all the plugins but I still get the same problem. Any ideas?
Just tested it with a different theme and the issue still arises, so it's obviously not a Generatepress problem.
FYI just in case any other user has the same query, it's an issue with Google Optimize and stopped when I ended the running experiment.
