Search in header for AMP

As search icon in header doesn’t work in AMP, can we put a dropdown menu with search icon and a search widget in it?

This plugin might be worth checking: https://wordpress.org/plugins/add-search-to-menu/

Looks like it allows you to add search forms to your menu items (in a dropdown).
